Because we live in an open, secular, rights based civilization, we must endure the populists who, by virtue of the very rights that allow them to spread hate, intolerance, and the prelude to genocide it’s self, threaten tolerant society as a means to a fucking paycheck. It sounds extreme, but we are living in an era of extremists. How many times before have voices called for reason, for calm, for compassion? These people spit on that notion, and aside from their snake oil solutions to complex social issues that have plagued human society since the stone age, they are harmless, inept, pitiable human beings. They are misguided by their own lust for power, blinded by their bigotry, fattened up on easy living, and they would not hesitate to help bring down civilization if it meant they would have a better place at the table once the smoke from burning corpses, and the noise of bulldozers covering up mass graves, had subsided.
